Wrong-Way Crash Reported On I-95 In Groton, DUI Driver Charged: Police
The crash was a head-on collision, according to state police.

GROTON, CT — Raheem Carter, 25, of Providence, Rhode Island, is accused of driving the wrong-way on I-95 while under the influence of alcohol, state police said.
At 1:04 a.m. Saturday, Troop E in Montville received multiple calls reporting a vehicle traveling southbound on I-95 northbound in the area of Exit 90 in Stonington, state police said.
As Troopers were responding, they were advised that the accused vehicle, later identified as a Toyota Corolla, had been involved in a head-on collision in the area of Exit 89 in Groton, state police said.

State police said Carter was exhibiting signs of possible impairment. Carter agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were not performed to standard, according to state police.
During the investigation, Troopers learned that Carter was driving with a suspended out-of-state driver's license and determined that the license plate displayed on the Toyota was a misuse, state police said. Additionally, the Toyota was not properly registered or insured, state police added.

Carter is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving the wrong-way on a divided highway and other motor vehicle citations.
