2 Promotions Announced At Guilford Fire Department

Two members of the Guilford Fire Department were sworn in this week.

GUILFORD, CT — Two promotions within the Guilford Fire Department are now official, as the GFD Board of Fire Commissioners administered the oath of office to Assistant Chief Clint Haverkampf and Assistant Chief Jim Considine during a regularly-scheduled meeting on Nov. 3.

"The Guilford Fire Department congratulates Assistant Chief Considine and Assistance Chief Haverkampf on their well-earned promotion and looks forward to their continued leadership in serving and protecting the Guilford community," the GFD said in a recent announcement.

Haverkampf began his career in fire services as a Guilford High School student in 1996 when he joined the volunteer fire department explorer post.

On June 2, 2002, Haverkampf was hired as a career firefighter, and he became a captain on April 15, 2007.

The GFD said Haverkampf has received several unit citations and administrative commendations. He holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of New Haven and is a graduate of the NAtional Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program. He is also a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Program.

Considine joined the GFD in 1989 as a volunteer member, and he was hired as a career firefighter/EMT on Nov. 28, 2004, the GFD said. Two years later, he received his CT Paramedic License.

In 2017, Considine was promoted to the rank of captain, and for the past six years, he has worked in the GFD Fire Marshal's Office, where he performed fire safety inspections and conducted fire origin and cause investigations.

Over the past 36 years, Considine has earned numerous fire service and emergency management certifications, according to the GFD.

Considine attended Roger Williams University and holds a bachelor's degree in public safety from Charter Oak State College.
