3 Cars Stolen In Guilford, 1 Car Totaled: Guilford Police

GUILFORD, CT – Guilford Police Department said three cars were stolen in the early morning hours in different parts of town.

Other vehicles were unlocked, and items were stolen throughout several neighborhoods, police said.

Police said all the cars had the keys in them, and one vehicle was totaled as it crashed into other cars in the driveway trying to escape.

Police said hitting the lock button every time is the best preventative measure to protect the vehicle.

Police said they can’t chase thieves for property crimes even if they witness them, and the thieves know this.

Police said they’re reminding people to lock their cars by giving keychains and releasing statements to the media.

Car thefts have been happening all over the state for years, but there are showing no signs of slowing down, police said.

Police said to take your stuff, take your keys, and lock your cars every time you park it at home, at the gas station, at the gym, at the supermarket, at the trailhead, everywhere all the time.
