7-Year-Old's Horseback Riding Wishes Come True

Guilford Patch is excited to announce that 7-year-old Maryn Santa Barbara, who's a Guilford resident, was named Champion in the Walk/Trot/Pleasure Series at the Reindeer Series at the Westbrook Hunt Club last Sunday.

Maryn participated in 6 shows at the series, earning several first and second place ribbons in most, placing her at the top of the competition with the most points. What's more, Maryn was competing against kids ages 6-12 years old. Maryn rode Mary Legs, who is owned by Erin Cecchini at Five Star in Guilford, where Maryn attends lessons. 

According to Tara Santa Barbara, Maryn's mom, her daughter "wished for her victory every evening when she listened to her Disney Wishes CD."

Tara stated that many family members were in Westbrook to cheer her daughter on. She shared that she, and Maryn's father, were exceptionally proud of her because it is Maryn's first year riding.
