With the official arrival of winter, police have offered up some seasonal driving tips for residents.
GUILFORD, CT — With the official arrival of winter, the Guilford Police Department has offered up some seasonal driving tips for residents.
"Your safety — and the safety of others — depends on cautious and attentive driving," police said in a Facebook post. "Let’s work together to keep our roads safe this winter!"

- Know the road/weather conditions before you leave
- Remove snow and ice from your vehicle completely before driving
- Slow down and increase following distance
- Ensure windows are defrosted
- Check your tire pressure, fluids, and headlights- Wipers on, lights on!
- Watch for black ice
- Don’t crowd the plow
