After Zuse Drops Out; Mazza, Wallace To Compete For Guilford First Selectman Spot

This November, Guilford voters will choose between Democrat Veronica Wallace and Republican Joseph Mazza for First Selectman.

Ted Zuse has dropped out of the race for Guilford First Selectman, meaning the two remaining candidates are incumbent Joseph Mazza and challenger Veronica Wallace.

Zuse and Wallace, both Democrats, both announced their intention to run last month, which would have forced a primary between the two candidates. However, Zuse has since dropped out of the race after he failed to turn in the proper paperwork, leaving Wallace as the Democratic nominee, according to the New Haven Register.

“Our goal was to make sure there was a Democratic candidate, and it looks like Veronica Wallace is going to be it,” Zuse told the Register.
