Bimbler’s Bash: ‘Preserving Heart and Sole’
Ready for a run through the woods? Bimbler's Bash is this weekend!!

The 7th Annual Bimbler’s Bash will take place at 9 AM this coming Sunday, April 7th through Westwoods. All the proceeds from the event are being donated to the Guilford Land Conservation Trust. With 270 registrations already for this year’s race, it has become the largest trail race in the state. Organizer Jerry Turk is hoping to hit the 300 mark for registrations in the coming week.
“With the good weather forecast, I am anticipating additional entries on race day that could take us beyond the 300 mark,” Turk told Guilford Patch in an email. “The course is challenging and I'm not known for accuracy in measuring distance, all the runners tell me the course is longer than the 10K I advertise it to be! ;-) But, that doesn't prevent people returning year after year.”
Each year, the race is themed, and this year it’s been dubbed ‘...preserving heart and sole,’ a nod to the preservation of the heart of Westwoods by runners using their soles to run trails.
The 10K race is an entirely off-road loop within Westwoods in Guilford, made up from a series of interconnecting single track hiking trails. There’s lots of rocks, roots and runners may even get their feet wet.
“People come out of the woods muddy and smiling,” said GLCT president Sarah Williams. “Good fun.”
