Bridge Replacement Project Contemplated In Guilford
Guilford Town Officials said if the project is undertaken, the design would be expected to begin in 2023, with construction in 2025 or 2026.

GUILFORD, CT – Town of Guilford officials are contemplating a project to replace the Twin Bridge Road over Iron Steam.
Town Engineer Janice Plaziak said if the project is undertaken, the design would be expected to begin in 2023, with construction likely in 2025 or 2026.
The bridge replacement project would receive federal funds under the Federal Local Bridge Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Plaziak said a minimum of 80 percent of the bridge replacement cost would be funded with federal aid, with the remaining 20 percent maximum paid from state bond funds.
The federal-aid authorization for the project is provided under the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act” (MAP-21) and/or the “Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act” (FAST) and/or the “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act” (IIJA) administered by the Federal Highway Administration and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Plaziak said federal, state and local policy promotes early information to citizens on such projects and encourages people to raise concerns with municipal officials early in the planning process.
