Ethan Song's big brother has written a tribute, for legislators who are weighing a safe gun storage law called "Ethan's Law", to read.

GUILFORD, CT - Dozens of people have submitted public testimony in advance of Monday's public hearing in support of a safe storage gun law that has been introduced in the wake of the tragic death last year of 15-year-old Ethan Song.

None of the testimony is as moving as one submitted - a poem - by his brother, Evan.

That poem can be read here:

I Dream That I'll Dream of You

It's 50 degrees and sunny in February,
Makes me miss you,
Reminds me of early spring days jumping off the the bus.
The paved black rocks glistening from the melted snow
And the sun beat down on our warm legs.
We are full of laughter.
But I'm at college and that was 10 years ago.
I miss your prepubescent mustache and the way your bed was full of pillows, games, and chips.
I miss telling you no matter how tall you got, I could still beat you up.
I miss your mustard colored shoes.
I miss when you got awkward around people you didn't know.
I miss light saber fights and spikeball.
It's 50 degrees and sunny in February,
You would have been driving a a car now with your hands at 2 and 4.
In college, you seem so far away,
Connected in fewer and fewer ways.
Everyday you become more of a memory and less of a reality.
I wish I knocked on your door asked you to hang.
I wish I took you out to eat.
I wish I was the big brother I saw others be.
I wish I was better.
It's 50 degrees and sunny in February,
And it's a tease of summer days with you.
When I dream of you, it's the same.
It's good for a moment, like a crack addict taking a hit.
I yearn for days like this.
I dream I'll dream of you tonight.
Even if it's just for a moment, like today, 50 degrees and sunny in February.

"Ethan's Law," introduced by Guilford State Rep. Sean Scanlon, would require gun owners to lock up all firearms in homes with children age 18 or under — regardless of whether the weapons are loaded. If a tragedy similar to Ethan's death occurred, the owner of the gun would be charged with a felony.

In Ethan's case, the homeowner left the gun unloaded in a cardboard box in a closet with the bullets nearby, according to an investigation by Waterbury State's Attorney Maureen Platt.

Ethan and the owner's son were handling the gun when the 15-year-old was shot and killed.

Platt concluded that the owner couldn't be charged with a crime since under state law it is legal to leave an unloaded handgun unlocked. It is currently a felony to leave a loaded gun unlocked in a home with a child under the age of 16, lawmakers said.

The legislature's Judiciary Committee will hear public testimony, including Evan Song's poem, on the law on Monday morning in Hartford.
