GAL's Annual Juried Exhibit And Sale: Here's What You Need To Know

Guilford Art League 75th Annual Juried Exhibit Sale is open to Connecticut Artists in all media.

GUILFORD, CT – Artists are invited to enter up to two pieces of art during the Guilford Art League 75th Annual Juried Exhibit and Sale.

The annual event will be held at The Gallery at Guilford Art Center from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30.

The show, juried by Jeanne Criscola, principal of Criscola Design, an award-winning studio focused on social justice and human rights projects, is open to Connecticut artists working in all media, including oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, sculpture, collage, mixed media, printmaking and photography. Several monetary prizes and notable awards will be announced at the opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Artists are invited to enter up to two pieces of art. Entry fees for GAL members are $15 for one entry and $25 for two; non-members pay $25 for one and $35 for two entries. Entries must be delivered to the Gallery at Guilford Art Center, 411 Church St., on Saturday, September 9, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Accepted works will be posted on the GAL website by Sept. 12.

The work of Criscola Design spans decades of publication design created for Soros’ Open Society Foundations, with one in MoMA’s Franklin Furnace Artists’ Book Collection. Jeanne’s design practice includes objects, experiences, curatorial and exhibition designs, and cultural production of books width imprint OctoberWorks.com. Criscola has exhibited drawings, moving images, installations, generative art, performances and books in international venues. Criscola’s recent book is “A Mouth Full: The Re-Cookbook, with Joan Fitzsimmons.”

Criscola founded the Ely Center for Contemporary Art in New Haven and co-founded Else Foundation, a global consortium publishing Else, a peer-reviewed journal of experimental and alternative works, projects and research.

Currently, Criscola is a Graphic/Information Design Professor at Central Connecticut University.
