Grass Island Shack Renovations to Wrap Up This Summer
Renovations on the Grass Island Shack will be completed over the summer.

GUILFORD--One local Eagle Scout is working hard to complete renovations on the town's Grass Island Shack.
Thanks to a fundraising campaign which has raised $18,000, and the determination of Life Scout John Markowski, the historic shack should be finished this summer, according to The Shoreline Times.

Guilford's well known Grass Island Shack is in need of major repairs. There are missing floor boards and the shack is leaning. To protect people from possible injury, town staff placed a fence around the shack. The fence sparked questions about the status of the shack, and Eagle Scout candidate John Markowski came forward to help the town raise funds and repair this important iconic symbol of Guilford. Once fundraising goals are met, John and his team plan to begin construction on the shack in early Spring of 2016.
