GUILFORD, CT —Residents in Guilford hit the polls on Tuesday to vote in several races, including the office of President, U.S. senator, Congress, state representative and state senate, and more.

Shortly after the polls closed Vice President Kamala Harris was announced as the winner of Connecticut's seven electoral college votes, defeating former President Donald J. Trump and three other candidates, according to the Associated Press.

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, won re-election and a third term in Congress, according to projections. He defeated GOP challenger Matthew M. Corey and two other candidates.

Also on the ballot Tuesday, residents voted "yes" on the ballot question, "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?" according to Hearst.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-3rd) has won re-election and secured an 18th term in office, the Associated Press reported.

DeLauro, 81, was first elected in 1990.

Incumbent state Rep. Christine Cohen held over a 6,000 vote lead over Republican challenger Paul Crisci in the 12th State Senate District race early Wednesday, but votes were still coming in, according to the CT Secretary of State website.

Another incumbent Democrat, state Rep. Moira Rader, who represents the 98th State House District, held over a 3,000 vote lead over Republican Richard S. DiNardo with results still coming in early Wednesday.

Vincent J. Candelora won the 86th State House District seat. He ran unopposed.
