Guilford Ends Debate Over HS Turf Field, Votes For Enviro-Filll

The board took a vote on the long debated high school turf field.

Guilford, CT - The debate is over.

Officials finally decided what type of turf will be laid on the new Guilford High School athletic field, according to The Guilford Courier.

On June 28, the high school Building Committee voted for an Enviro-Fill field, which is artificial turf with coated sand infill, according to The Courier.

The committee will submit a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen to use RAD Sports for the project The Courier reports.

The project is estimated to cost $1,151,100, The Courier reports.

On June 14, officials opted to continue the discussion on the proposed field, according to The Guilford Courier. The Guilford High School Building Committee put a decision on hold due to requests made by community members.

Four options for the field were on the table, and those included artificial turf with crumb rubber infill, artificial turf with coated crumb rubber infill, artificial turf with coated sand infill (“Enviro-fill”), and natural grass.
