Guilford Fire Department Raises $10,290 for St. Baldrick's in Shave-Off
After a friendly competition with the surrounding fire departments, Guilford Fire Department raised a total of $10,290 for St. Baldrick's Foundation for Juvenile Cancer. As a whole, last weekend's event raised $74,000 for cancer research.
After weeks of fundraising efforts by the Guilford Fire Department, the team raised $10,290 for St. Baldrick's Foundation for Juvenille Cancer. In total, the Shave-off event, which was hosted by O'Tooles Irish Pub in New Haven on March 1, raised $74,000 for the foundation.
Nine Guilford Firefighters shaved their heads for the event. The members of the Guilford Fire Team and money raised by each team member:

The GFD was in a friendly competition with surrounding Fire Departments that were also participating the event, including Branford and East Haven. Initially, GFD set their fundraising goal at $2,000, a goal set by team Captain Rob Piascyk and team member Mike Perez.
The goal was reached quickly, and GFD persisted in fundraising, ending with over $10,000, edging out the 'competition.' They came in first in fundraising dollars at the event, edging out East Haven, who came in second with $9,132.
