Guilford Fire Department Responds to 165 Calls During Blizzard and Storm Recovery
From Friday, Feb. 8 to Tuesday, Feb. 12, Guilford Fire Department responded to 165 calls. The responses were made by fire apparatus, snow mobiles, and payloaders.

As three feet of snow piled up in Guilford, Friday and Saturday, roads were virtually, if not entirely impassable. But Guilford Fire Department responded to 165 calls between Friday, Feb. 8 to Tuesday, Feb. 12, getting to the call by any means possible.
"Our priority was making sure we answered every emergency call," John Planas, Guilford Fire Department Fireman/Paramedic told Guilford Patch. "We had firefighters that brought in personal equipment such as snow mobiles that were used to get to patients and a bucket loader that was used to clear roads and driveways for emergency vehicles."

"One of our firefighters was gone for three days straight on his own payloader working to clear the roads," Planas continued. "When we got calls, we would head out with snow mobiles following the Fire Trucks so we could get through. We strapped sleds on the trucks in case we needed them for transport."
"We were able to get to everyone," Planas concluded. "We all pulled together, and we just want to thank the other town departments and Guilford residents for their support during this historic storm."
