Guilford Firefighter Promoted To Captain

The Guilford Fire Department said the new captain "has built a distinguished record of dedication, professionalism, and leadership."

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Fire Department Board of Fire Commissioners this week unanimously promoted firefighter/paramedic Jed Morrissey to the rank of captain after the recent appointment of Assistant Fire Chief Clint Haverkampf.

Morrissey began his fire service career in 1995 as a junior member of the Haddam Fire Department, becoming a full member in 1997, the GFD said in an announcement. He joined the GFD on Oct. 16, 2016, as a firefighter/paramedic.

"Over nearly three decades in the fire service, Captain Morrissey has built a distinguished record of dedication, professionalism, and leadership," the GFD said.

In addition to his experience in emergency operations, technical rescue, and team leadership, Morrissey serves as a paramedic field instructor and a rescue specialist with FEMA US&R MA-TF1, bringing advanced training and specialized capabilities to the department, the GFD noted.

"He is well known for his commitment to firefighter development, disciplined incident management, and proactive approach to safety and training," the GFD added.

"Throughout his career, Captain Morrissey has consistently demonstrated the ability to modernize programs, strengthen interagency coordination, and mentor the next generation of firefighters.
