Guilford To Issue Proclamation, Hold Ceremony For Inaugural Porchfest

Guilford Porchfest 2024, the hyperlocal, volunteer-driven, free music event, is scheduled for Sept. 7.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford's inuagural Porchfest event is quickly approaching, and the town is planning to kick off the event in style.

On Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. on either the steps of Guilford Town Hall or at the band shelter on the town green, First Selectman Matt Hoey will issue a proclamation to mark the occassion and there will be an opening ceremony with organizers, performers, hosts, and volunteers to celebrate the day.

Guilford Porchfest 2024 will then run from noon to 5 p.m. The hyperlocal, all-volunteer community-building event will feature 40-plus musical performers on 20-plus porches throughout downtown Guilford.

All Guilford Porchfest solo performers (or at least one member of any duo or group) live or work in Guilford, and all porches have been "donated" for the day by Guilford residents and organizations. All performances are free and open to the public.

The idea for a porchfest was brought to Guilford by resident Laurie Kenney, who felt it was a good way to unite the town through music.
