Guilford PD Hosting First Citizen Police Academy In 3 Years

Guilford residents 16 and older can apply and learn more about the department over the course of 10 weeks.

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford police will host the first citizens police academy class in three years.

The new class is scheduled to begin March 23. The 10-week academy includes 30 hours of instruction taught in three-hour sessions every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees will learn about elements of crimes, a general overview of the department, laws and take a patrol ride-along.

State and federal agencies will also present at the academy to show how different levels of law enforcement work together.

The class is limited to 30 people. Residents must be 16 years of age or older.
