Guilford Police Issue Important Winter Reminders With December On The Horizon

The Guilford Police Department has issued several reminders for residents as winter approaches.

GUILFORD, CT -- The calendar will soon switch to December, which means snow is right around the corner. The Guilford Police Department has issued several reminders for residents as winter approaches.

Between Dec. 1 and April 1, there is an overnight, on-street parking ban between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. during the time of impending winter storms and any time there is active snow removal happening to ensure crews can clear the roads.

"We will ticket and tow vehicles that are left parked on the road overnight when they impede the snow removal abilities of the Department of Public Works during and after snowfall," police said in a recent social media post.

Additionally, Guilford town ordinance requires that public sidewalks be kept free of snow and ice.

Within 24 hours following the end of a snow or ice storm, residents and property owners are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, police noted. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to $100 for each day the snow and ice is not removed.
