Guilford School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Guilford is August 31. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Guilford School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 9/4: Labor Day (No school)
• 9/21: Rosh Hashanah (No school)

October

• 10/9: Columbus Day (No school)
• 10/25: Staff PLC Professional Development (Early dismissal for students)

November

• 11/2-3: Parent/Teacher Conferences (Elementary)
• 11/7: Staff Professional Development (No school for students)
• 11/13-14: Parent/Teacher Conferences (Middle)
• 11/15-16: Parent/Teacher Conferences (GHS)
• 11/22-24: Thanksgiving Break

December

• 12/25-1/1: Winter Recess

January

• 1/15: Martin Luther King Day (No school)
• 1/31: Staff PLC Professional Development (Early dismissal for students)

February

• 2/19-20: Winter Recess

March

• 3/9: Staff Professional Development (No school for students)
• 3/14-15: Parent/Teacher Conferences (GHS)
• 3/22-23: Parent/Teacher Conferences (Middle)
• 3/28: Staff PLC Professional Development (Early dismissal for students)

April

May

• 5/28: Memorial Day (No school)
• 5/30: Staff PLC Professional Development (Early dismissal for students)

June

• 6/11: Early Dismissal for Students
• 6/12: Last Day of School (Early Dismissal for Students)
• 6/12: Graduation (date moves with school closings)

Emergency Closing Make-up Days

June 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 (In case of extenuating circumstances, other calendar adjustments may be made (i.e. April vacation)
