Guilford Selectmen Approve Spending On High School Noise Issue
Officials have been aiming to reduce noise coming from chillers for Long Hill Fields neighbors for four years.
GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen authorized about $159,000 to purchase equipment that will help reduce noise coming from two chillers at Guilford High School.
The board awarded the contract to Acoustics & Vibration Specialists Inc., according to meeting minutes.
Officials have looked to reduce the sound for Long Hill Fields neighbors over the past four years.

The noise coming from the chillers is about 10 decibels above acceptable levels, Board of Education Director of Operations Cliff Gurnham said at the board's Jan. 3 meeting. Engineers are confident the fix will bring the levels below noise ordinance limits.
