Guilford's Budget Facing Cuts, New Referendum Date Approved

Guilford's budget will face cuts.

GUILFORD--Guilford's school and town budgets need to make some cuts.

According to a report on Zip06.com, the Board of Education and the Board of Selectmen are facing $150,000 in cuts from their respective operating budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.

The town failed to pass a proposed budget in April and the Board of Finance proposed this revised budget with the $300,000 in cuts, according to Zip06.com.

The revised budget with the $300K in cuts reflects a 3.89 percent increase and a tax increase of 2.74 percent, according to Zip06.com.

The Special Town Budget Meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2016, 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center and the referendum will take place May 17, 2016, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., at all five polling locations on the Proposed Amended Guilford Budget.
