Guilford's Eva Solarsk Named One Of CT's Great Young Anglers
Solarsk finished second in Connecticut's Youth Fishing Passport Sweepstakes.

This month, it was announced that Guilford's Eva Solarsk finished in second place in Connecticut's Youth Fishing Passport Sweepstakes and won free fishing gear and a trip to Massachusetts.
The Youth Fishing Passport Sweepstakes is a program that "promotes environmental responsibility, stewardship, and a sense of belonging to the sportsmen community,” according to Peter Aarrestad, the director of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Inland Fisheries Division. Solarsk won a fishing gear pack from Berkley and Shakespeare and will go to Brandon Barde, Pittsfield, MA to fish, according to a DEEP press release.
“Geo-Catching” and “Fishing Challenge” are two activities for Youth Fishing Passport holders to test their angling ability throughout the year, according to the DEEP Press Release. The Inland Fisheries Division keeps track of each passport holder’s progress as they send or email their Conservation ID and a photo of the captured fish with the angler in front of a recognizable landmark, according to the release.
