Madison Businesses Must Stick To Outdoor Display Requirements
The Planning and Zoning Commission voted against an amendment to expand displays for local businesses.

MADISON--Local businesses must stick to the current restrictions when it comes to outdoor displays.
According to The Guilford Courier, on June 1 the Planning and Zoning Commission voted against a proposed amendment that would have expanded options for outdoor business displays.
Currently, the PZC limits shops to displaying a single item outside of their shop on the first weekend of each month.

The Courier reports that the PZC said it was too difficult to enforce the proposed amendment due to numerous variables, such as enforcing if a display is "tasteful" or not.
Shop owners attended the June 1 meeting and voiced opposition to the strict rules regulating outdoor displays.
