Man Killed By Train On Tuesday Identified as Guilford Resident

Guilford police have positively identified the man who was killed by a passing Amrak train on Tuesday afternoon in Guilford.

GUILFORD, CT - The man killed by a train Tuesday afternoon has been identified as a 55-year-old Guilford man.

Guilford police Wednesday identified the man as George Whitney. Police said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting their investigation to determine the cause, mechanism and manner of death.

On Tuesday, at 12:24 p.m. officers responded to a "trespassing pedestrian struck by a southbound Amtrak work train."

There were no passengers aboard the train.

Whitney was found on the tracks along Route 146 south of Sachems Head Road.
