Obituary: John J. Long, Jr., 79, of Guilford
A Navy veteran and SCSU custodian, he enjoyed pinochle and history, was active at the Guilford Senior Center and a Red Cross blood donor.
John J. Long, Jr. of Guilford, beloved husband of Antoinette “Toni” Pitcher Long died Thursday November 30, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
John was born August 3, 1944 in New Haven, a son of the late John J. and Margaret Johnson Long. He served in the U. S. Navy. John worked as a custodian for Southern Connecticut State University for many years until retiring. John enjoyed a good game of Pinochle, and he was lover of history. He was a long-time blood donor with the American Red Cross, and was an active member of the Guilford Senior Center.

Besides Toni, John is survived by his children, Michael J. Long of Guilford and Catherine Long Dennison of Clinton; his grandchildren, Meghan and Joshua; and his siblings, Judy Johnson and Timothy Long both of Maine, and Peggy Long of Tennessee.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Friday December 8, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, with U. S. Navy Funeral Honors at 5:00 PM, at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
