Patch Candidate Profile: Meghan Scanlon, Guilford Board of Finance

GUILFORD, CT – As the 2023 municipal elections get closer in Guilford, plenty of races with candidates are eager to serve in elected office.

Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence CEO Meghan Scanlon, 35, is running for reelection on the board of finance in Guilford as a democrat candidate.

Scanlon is married to her husband, Sean Scanlon, Connecticut’s State Comptroller, and they have two children. Scanlon holds a Bachelors in English and Political science.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Yes, Board of Finance, I’m running for reelection.

Why are you seeking this office?

To be a part of strategically positioning the Town of Guilford in the present and future it is a town that has given me so much, and the people of this town are incredibly special to me.

I do not have anyone running against me.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Education is vital to our success as a town and as a state, and I will do all I can to support the current board of education members.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Do not make decisions from a place of fear, regardless of the situation.
