Alan J. Ouimet, O.F.S., 88, died Nov. 14, 2025; a former Justice Department official who later founded and led the Franciscan Family Apostolate while also supporting education and HIV/AIDS programs worldwide, he devoted his life to public service, faith work, and assisting vulnerable communities.

Alfred J. Girardi, 86, died Nov. 13, 2025; a U.S. Coast Guard Reserve veteran and second-generation owner of Unique Cleaners, he also bred and showed champion Akitas, built a small farm where he raised horses, and enjoyed gardening and sharing produce with neighbors.

Rita C. Buonocore, 96, died Nov. 13, 2025; she worked in banking and mortgage services with New Haven Bank, Connecticut Savings Bank, and Centerbank, later managed payroll for her family’s business, and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, music, dancing, and tending to her home and plants.

Thomas “Tom” Czaplicki, 82, died Nov. 13, 2025; a 32-year State of Connecticut employee, Air Force Reserve veteran, and longtime volunteer firefighter, he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, winters in Florida, and helping others with home projects.

Germaine Gundersen, 79, died Nov. 13, 2025; a longtime dental hygienist known for her grace and warmth, she enjoyed cooking, French-inspired décor, beaches, and traveling including to Cape Cod, Disney World, Mallorca and France.

Constance LeMoyne “Lee” Sylvester, 90, died on Nov. 12, 2025; a Radcliffe-educated historian who spent nearly 40 years as archivist at Choate Rosemary Hall, she enjoyed gardening, watercolor painting, volunteering, and time with her grandchildren.

Peter Rivera, 89, died Nov. 4, 2025; an electronics and aerospace professional who worked at Western Electric, AIL Systems, Sikorsky, and Norden Systems, he enjoyed repairing and building things, long-distance walks, chess, music, volunteering at the CT Open and local organizations, and traveling to all 50 states.
