Renee Patricia Abbott of Guilford obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Renee Patricia Abbott, 78 of Guilford passed away October 11, 2025, surrounded by love at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. She was born November 1, 1946 in New Haven to the late Constance Whipple. Renee is survived by her loving daughter, Courtney Huntington, and her beloved son-in-law Scott Nathan Huntington of Deep River and a son, Todd Paul Abbott of West Haven along with two grandchildren she adored; Delaney Katherine Huntington, and Connor Paul Huntington. Renee is preceded in death by her mother Constance Whipple and her late husband, Ronald Paul Abbott (2002).
Renee was a graduate of Branford high school, class of 64’. After which she married the one and only love of her life Ronald Paul Abbott in 1968. She then proceeded to earn her license in practical nursing and began her life of service working with the elderly in convalescent care and privately in their own homes. Her service to others continued with, Sarah Tuxis managing a group home for disabled individuals. She was a member of the Guilford fire department ladies auxiliary. She was always the first to offer her time to volunteer for her children's school activities as well as volunteering her time helping with girl scouts, boy scouts and little league. In her later years, when she became a widow, she was delighted in making friends in her community including cooking thanksgiving meals for them and always offering a place in her home to welcome any friends, new or old. She was known for her kind smile and her ability to make anyone feel like a friend and her enduring compassion. She loved and adored her children and her grandchildren more than anyone else in the world. Her favorite hobby was spoiling her grandchildren rotten. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday October 18, 2025 at 1 PM in St. George Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford CT 06437 (Please go directly to the church) with burial to follow at Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Sarah Foundation or Save a Warrior. All services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
