Several Pets Rescued From House Fire: Guilford FD

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Guilford Fire Marshal's office.

STAMFORD, CT — A Guilford home sustained "extensive" damage and several pets were rescued following a fire that broke out on Sunday morning, according to the Guilford Fire Department.

The GFD's 911 telecommunications center received a report of a house on fire from an occupant at a home in the 50 block of Maupas Road North at approximately 9:21 a.m. on Nov. 30, the GFD said in an announcement.

Arriving units found heavy smoke throughout the home, and two hose lines were immediately deployed as firefighters began an aggressive interior attack, the GFD said, noting several pets were rescued during a primary search of the structure.

"Thanks to the quick and coordinated actions of responding crews, firefighters were able to contain the fire to a bathroom that was located on the second floor of the residence," the GFD said. "The interior of the residence sustained extensive smoke damage throughout the basement and first floor. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within twenty minutes of arrival."

The Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter is assisting the homeowner with temporary housing for the pets, the GFD said. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
