Special Hanukkah 'Fire And Ice' Event To Take Place On Guilford Green

The event will feature ice carving, music, and a menorah-lighting ceremony.

GUILFORD, CT — Community members are invited to mark the start of Hanukkah with a special "Fire & Ice" celebration on the Guilford Green Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14, featuring ice carving, music, refreshments, and a menorah-lighting ceremony.

The event, sponsored by Chabad of the Shoreline, will run from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A professional ice carver will give a live demonstration while non-professionals — individuals or families — can take part in a community ice-carving competition.

Each participating team will receive a 150-pound block of ice along with basic hand tools and stencils. Participants are allowed to bring their own hand tools but power tools are prohibited.

An ice menorah lighting is scheduled for 4 p.m.
