St. George's Church Looking for Catechists

"St. George Church is looking for catechists to teach children between grades 3 to 6 after school at the Father Sullivan Center."

The following information was provided by Carolyn Milazzo Murphy:

St. George Church is looking for catechists to teach children between grades 3 to 6 after school at the Father Sullivan Center.

Adults and high school students who are parish members are needed immediately for several teaching openings this year, according to CCD Director Diane Birdsall. She said she needs about 2 to 3 additional CCD teachers in every grade. Adult catechists do not need to have children in the CCD program to participate, and high school students can use their teaching experience for community service credits.

Catechists are volunteers and generally teach one hour-long class per week. Classes run for 9 to 10 weeks in the fall and spring. The 5th and 6th graders meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays after school, while the 3rd and 4th grades meet from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. weekdays. Catechists can pick the day that best suits their schedule.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Birdsall at Dbirdsall@stgeorgeguilford.org, or call203-453-2788, Ext. 205.
