Storm Recovery Update: When Will Power Be Restored In Guilford?
The latest on Tropical Storm Isaias power restoration, clean-up and recovery efforts, and what help is available for those without power.

GUILFORD, CT — Power to the 6,624 Guilford homes and businesses that remain in the dark since Tropical Storm Isaias ripped though town Tuesday is promised to be restored by next Tuesday, or maybe sooner, Eversource said Friday afternoon.
First Selectman Matt Hoey said he and "our state legislative delegation continue to put pressure on Eversource to improve their responsiveness."
In the meantime, as people struggle without electricity—during a pandemic—for up to a week, Hoey pleaded with residents to steer clear of downed wires and not go near trees touching wires.

"I implore all of you to please treat all wires as being live, and do not cut trees, or any portion of a tree that may be on or caught up in the wires," he said. "Do not assume that these wires are de-energized.
Hoey also said while on the road in town, "do not remove, or drive under or around, downed wires or cones in the road, and treat intersections without functioning traffic lights as four-way stops."
