Summer Concerts On The Guilford Green Kick Off Sunday

The annual summer concert series begins on Sunday, July 24.

Guilford, CT - From Motown to rock, jazz to country, the annual Concert on the Green series is kicking off the 2016 summer season this Sunday.

Music lovers can head to the Guilford Green July 24 to listen to the sounds of What It Is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for free.

According to the Guilford Parks & Recreation Department summer brochure, What It Is is "an eight-piece act with full horn section, studio level vocalists and musicians. What It Is plays a mix of genres- rock, soul, pop, jazz and even a little country."

"The four-piece monster horn section, hip rhythm professionals and talented vocalists enables a wide ranging repertoire that includes Steely Dan, Chicago, Tower of Power, Brian Setzer Big Band, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Bruno Mars, Paul Simon, Al Green, George Strait and many more."

Over the last 30 years, "the Shoreline Arts Alliance has been presenting free Sunday summer concerts on the historic Guilford Green, (Guilford, CT) in a wide variety of popular music genres for family entertainment," the Alliance states on its webpage.
