UPDATE: USPS Truck Fire Out, Road Open, Driver Unhurt, Mail Delivered
Initially police said they were "not sure about the mail." But now say that the driver had made all deliveries on the route before the fire.

GUILFORD, CT — A USPS truck fire that closed Durham Road between Bittner Park and Alma Lane, was put out, the driver was unhurt and, police said, and the mail had been delivered.
"The truck was empty," USPS spokesperson Amy Gibbs told Patch. And she thanked Guilford firefighters and police.

"Not sure on the mail though," they added.
In a July 2020 Vice report about mail truck fires it was noted that, "Since May 2014, at least 407 (USPS Long Life Vehicles) have been damaged or destroyed in fires, or approximately one every five days."
Patch has reached out to a USPS spokesperson for comment and was told that the Postal Service does not share that information publicly.
