1 Dead After Car Veers Off Road, Crashes Into Pole In New Haven: Police
The 80-year-old man was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he later died, police said.
HAMDEN, CT — An 80-year-old man died after his car veered onto a sidewalk and crashed into a telephone pole before coming to a rest in the front yard of a nearby home in New Haven Friday afternoon, police said.
Officers from the New Haven Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Forest Road at around 2 p.m. after a Mazda 3i traveling north on the roadway towards Willard Street crashed, injuring Faraz Kelib, a Hamden resident, according to police.
Emergency services "swiftly arrived" at the scene and took Kelib to Yale-New Haven Hospital for immediate medical evaluation and treatment, police said, adding, "despite the efforts of medical professionals," Kelib was later pronounced dead."

"The Crash Reconstruction Team was activated, and a thorough investigation will be conducted to analyze the evidence and determine how the collision occurred," police said.
