25-Year-Old Killed In Shooting Identified By Police

A Hamden man was killed in a weekend shooting in New Haven, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A Hamden man has been identified as the person killed in an overnight weekend shooting in New Haven, according to police.

Deshawn Maysonet, 25, was pronounced dead following the incident, police announced Sunday.

The shooting occurred around 4:15 a.m. Saturday on Fairmont Avenue between East Ferry and Lancraft streets, according to police, who said a caller reported several gunshots, possibly from a fight in the area. Maysonet was already being driven to the hospital when officers reached the scene, so police met him there and secured the vehicle, authorities said.
