Albert Schweitzer Institute Takes 75 Quinnipiac University Members
36 students will be included in the 75 member Noble Peace Laureates from QU in Bogata, Columbia.

From Quinnipiac University: The Albert Schweitzer Institute will take 75 members of the Quinnipiac University community, including 36 students, to the 16th World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Feb. 1-5 in Bogota, Colombia.
Nobel Peace Laureates who will attend include President Oscar Arias of Costa Rica, President Lech Walesa from Poland, Tawakkal Karmin from Yemen, and will include representatives from Doctors without Borders, Amnesty International, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, The United Nations’ High Commission on Refugees.
The aim of the summit will be to support the people of Colombia – especially the young people – in their quest to end a 50-year civil war that has cost a quarter million people their lives. Recently, a peace treaty was signed and approved by the Parliament in Columbia. It is the task of the summit to support their efforts to bring peace to the country.

Quinnipiac faculty members who are participating include Sean Duffy, professor of political science, Anat Biletzki, Schweitzer professor of philosophy, and Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, assistant professor of legal studies.
The summit will also include various panels comprised of Nobel Peace Prize winners discussing issues pertinent to today’s society. Quinnipiac students will have the unique opportunity to interact with the panelists. The Summit also provides students with the opportunity to interact with world leaders, human rights scholars and businessmen and women who have changed the world.
