Buckle Up for the Worst Potholes in Hamden
We asked Patch Readers which streets have the most bumps, divots and craters in their area.

Nothing puts a dent in a morning commute like bad traffic and a street littered with potholes.
Blizzard 2016 left monumental snowfalls up and down the east coast, and Hamden was not immune to its wrath.
Large snowfalls compiled with El Niño induced warmer temperatures have caused more potholes and road problems than most motorists can stomach.

Patch Readers gave us a rundown of particularly pocked streets in their neighborhoods. Here are some spots that might be worth detouring:
- “Hartford Turnpike gets patched every year because they don’t hold. Last snowstorm a city plow actually ripped up last autumn’s patches from Foote to Sebec and people’s yards all along the Turnpike are covered with asphalt. Time to repave & get the job done right.”
- “Hamden Hills. Please triple patch that bad boy. I always seem to hit it in the dark. THANK YOU!!”
- “All over town. This is completely a loaded question. Speaking of which, when is exactly is the clean up for Storm Barbara that happened two weeks ago. Hamden is a town run completely in subpar fashion”
- “Beaver Street is a mess. Some of our driceways (AT the ends) are all dug up. Lived here over 30 years and this street has NEVER BEEN PAVED. If the town is not going to fix the flooding problem, then at least pave the road in spring.”
- “Dixwell turning onto Woodin, Pine Rock and Helen intersection, at the stop sign in front of the school”
- “Big one on Ralston Avenue right as you come off Whitney Avenue over a foot across not hard to see but hard to miss.”
- “Going into the Hamden Plaza off of Skiff”
- “Woodin Street right before you enter Dixwell. Growing daily”
- “Walmart parking lot entrance near Kohl’s - those things are huge!”
- “All of Gorham Avenue is a mess.”
