A Hamden man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into his estranged wife''s home and stole cash from her pocketbook, according to police.
The incident happened on April 9, when Hamden Police got a call from a Stevens Street home reporting a larceny, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.
Officer Dennis Putnam investigated, Smith said, and found that Aponte, who is separated from his wife, "forced entry into her residence through a door. Once inside, he allegedly stole $1,500.00 from her pocketbook," Smith said in a release Tuesday.
Putnam submitted an arrest warrant application to the court and on Friday Hamden Police arrested Aponte at Meriden Superior Court, Smith said.
Aponte, 40, of Judith Street in New Haven, was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass, Smith said. He was held in lieu of $20,000 bond and is due to appear in court on May 22.
