For the Second Time, New Haven Man Facing Burglary Charges

He was arrested in June and again on Wednesday for a series of break-ins, according to police.

A New Haven man was arrested this week and charged with a series of burglaries allegedly committed between October of last year and March of this year, according to police. 

It's the second time in a month Emmanuel Brunson, 19, of 31 Level St., New Haven, has been arrested, and now he's facing charges similar to his first arrest.

Brunson was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit first-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, two counts of second-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny, four counts of credit card theft and interfering with a police officer.

Brunson was arrested Wednesday at Meriden Superior Court, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. It's Brunson's second arrest by Hamden Police in a month, and he was in court Wednesday to answer to the prior charges.

The latest arrest stems from several incidents, according to Smith:

  • In October 2012 Brunson allegedly committed a burglary at an Armory Street residence. In the course of the burglary, he allegedly stole the resident’s motor vehicle.
  • Shortly thereafter, in the fall of 2012, Brunson again allegedly burglarized the same Armory Street resident. He allegedly entered the residence shortly after midnight, with house keys he obtained from the previous burglary. Several hundred dollars was stolen.
  • In March of this year Brunson allegedly attempted to gain entry into a Hillcrest Avenue home. While unsuccessful, he subsequently allegedly entered the homeowner’s motor vehicle.
  • Also in March 2013 Brunson allegedly stole a motor vehicle from a Dixwell Avenue resident.

Brunson was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and was arraigned Wednesday in Meriden Superior Court.
