Hamden Book Discussion Group Celebrates 100th Title Read with Local Author

Hear local author Sarah Pemberton Strong talk about her new novel, The Fainting Room, as the Hamden Book Discussion Group celebrates its 100th title read this month. 

Kirkus Reviews calls The Fainting Room “A deliciously creepy and intense story”, while Publisher’s Weekly states, “Strong's second novel (after Burning the Sea) delivers complex, entertaining characters and will attract readers who enjoy genre-blending, cutting-edge fiction.”

Sarah Pemberton Strong is the author of two novels, The Fainting Room (Ig Publishing, 2013) and Burning the Sea (Alyson, 2002), and a poetry collection, Tour of the Breath Gallery, which won the Walt McDonald First-Book Prize (Texas Tech University Press, 2013).

She is the recipient of a Promise Award from The Sustainable Arts Foundation and has won the 2011 Elizabeth Matchett Stover Award from Southwest Review. Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is the poetry editor at New Haven Review. 

The discussion will take place on Monday, July 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Friends Room of the library. No registration is required and copies of the book are available at the library.
