Hamden Church Holding Food Drive/Picnic Combo
Come have some food and bring some food so the needy can eat too.
The Dunbar United Church of Christ is launching a new event this year: "Hot Dogs for H.O.P.E."
The acronym stands for Helping Other People Eat, and it's part of a greater project called the "H.O.P.E. Initiative."
So, the initiative's first event, "Hot Dogs for H.O.P.E" is a food drive and picnic that will be held on Sept. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is free, open to everyone in the community, and will include a picnic lunch, live music, guest speakers, and activities such as face painting, a moon bounce, and more.
Everyone attending the event is asked to bring a non-perishable food item to help fill the shelves at the Hamden Food Bank, the Dunbar church said.
"It is going to be a wonderful event and opportunity for all of us to come together in service to our community," the church said.
See the attached flier for more information. We've also attached a copy of a list of the foods the food bank is looking for.
