Hamden DUI Driver Found Sleeping In Stolen Vehicle: North Haven Police

The driver was found asleep at the wheel of a vehicle that was still running and parked in a resident's driveway, according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Hamden woman was arrested after police said she was found sleeping while under the influence in a stolen vehicle that was still running while parked in a North Haven resident’s driveway on Tuesday morning.

North Haven police responded around 11:45 a.m. on March 4 to a Hartford Turnpike residence on the report of a suspicious vehicle.

Police said the homeowner indicated they viewed a vehicle parked in their driveway for approximately 15 minutes via their doorbell camera. The homeowners did not recognize the vehicle, nor were they expecting anyone at the residence, according to police.

Responding officers found 43-year-old Cricket Yurchick of Hamden asleep in vehicle, which was still running, according to police.

“Upon waking Yurchick, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, and asked her to exit the vehicle,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Yurchick was found to be impaired, and it was learned the license plate on the vehicle belonged to a different vehicle. Upon checking the VIN, it was learned the vehicle was stolen from Hamden.”

Yurchick was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance (suspected fentanyl), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension, and improper use of marker plate.
