Hamden Library Presents 'The Great British Baking Tour'
A holiday Zoom event is set for Dec. 13.
Press release from Hamden Public Library:
HAMDEN, CT — Come on board for a Zoom cooking adventure, The Great British Baking Tour: Holiday Edition, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, 7 - 8 pm. Join United Kingdom travel/relocation consultant and former UK resident Claire Evans for a delightful culinary tour of Great Britain. This program is inspired by "The Great British Baking Show" television series, which aired on PBS and Netflix. [DVD copies of the series are available at the Miller Library].
Our tour guide will provide instruction on making a proper cup of tea, while sharing stories about regional specialties, their origins, and the particular parts of the UK they hail from. Ms. Evans will translate the trickiest parts of British recipes for Americans so you can try them in your own kitchen. Pick up useful travel tips as well, just in case you'd like to create your own tour.

Ms. Evans considers herself an American Anglophile. She loved England long before she met her British husband. She was a foreign exchange student in London while in law school in the early 2000s when she got to know that great city as you do only when you live there. She moved to the UK after she got married. She explored different parts of the island almost every weekend for several years. When work called her husband back to the U.S., she was employed by a large cultural training company as a relocation consultant.
This virtual program is sponsored by the Friends of the Hamden library. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Register online at www.hamdenlibrary.org (click on “Programs”) or call 203-287-2680. After signing up, you will receive a Zoom meeting link by email.
