Hamden Man Charged With Animal Cruelty In East Haven Dog-Dumping: ACO

EAST HAVEN, CT —A Hamden man has been charged with animal cruelty for allegedly dumping a dog in East Haven, according to the town's animal control officer Emily Higgins.

Saturday, Higgins noted on Facebook that a dog was "dumped" near 510 Main St.

Higgins told Patch that Elijah Jackson of Hamden was charged with animal cruelty. He's due in court Nov. 14.

"We were just informed that this boy was dumped. The owner attempted to surrender the dog in surrounding towns and ended up dumping him near 510 Main St. We are asking if anyone in that area has cameras or ring camera footage that could possibly help us in locating the owner. The property of 510 Main Street only has cameras at the main office. We have a feeling that he was dumped nearby. The owner also threatened another Animal Control Officer from a nearby shelter if they wouldn't take the dog. If you have any information, please contact East Haven Animal Shelter at 203-468-3249."
