Bernard J. (Bernie) Beirne of Hamden died Thursday, June 6th 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford.
Bernie was born in Miskawn, Aughnasheelin, Ballinamore, County Leitrim, Ireland on April 16, 1945. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernie Joe & Elizabeth (Smyth) Beirne, his brother Sean Beirne and his infant granddaughter Leah, at whose side he will be laid to rest.
He is survived by his three sons, Brian (Christine) of Madison, Kevin (Jacqueline) of Hamden and Michael (Carolyn) of New Haven, and his adoring grandchildren, Roisin, Lauren, Elizabeth, Brian & Ruairi.
He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Mary), James (Brigid), Patrick (Phyllis) and his sister Mary (Mick), and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The Beirne family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Gaylord Hospital, Milne #2 who made Bernie's final weeks and days as comfortable as possible.
His funeral will leave from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Monday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Friends may call Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m.
