Hamden Psychiatrist's License Placed on Probation for Improper Prescriptions
The Department of Public Health launched investigation of the psychiatrist back in May of 2012.

Connecticut state Medical Examining Board placed the license of Dr. Avijit Mitra, a Hamden psychiatrist, on probation for a year on Tuesday, according to the New Haven Register.
Mitra is also ordered to hire a psychiatrist to supervise his practice, the Register reported.
Mitra already paid $55,000 in state and federal fines for improperly prescribing controlled substances to himself, his wife and others, the Register reported. He has yet to admit wrongdoing, but is complying with state and legal orders.
