Hamden Public Library Event: 'When The Stars Align'
"The Quest to Learn How, Why, and Where Planets Form" is a virtual event set for Sept. 6.
Press release from Hamden Public Library:
HAMDEN, CT — Imagine you were designing a planetary system. What kind of planets would you include? Where would you place them? How would they move around their star? During the past 30 years, over 4,000 planets have been discovered in approximately 500 planetary systems outside of our solar system. Most of these do not look like our solar system. What does that mean for how unique the Earth is? And what is the potential for life beyond Earth?
Learn more about planet formation by joining us for a free virtual presentation, "When the Stars Align: The Quest to Learn How, Why, and Where Planets Form," Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 6:30 pm. The presenter is Emma M.C. Louden, a second-year PhD student in astrophysics at Yale University. Her interests revolve around exoplanetary characterization, planetary protection, and international collaboration in space exploration.
