Sacred Heart Academy Beats Sheehan In Girls Basketball Showdown

The Sharks handed the Titans their first loss of the season in a showdown between two of the top teams in the SCC, and the state, on Friday.

HAMDEN, CT — Sacred Heart Academy handed the Sheehan girls basketball team its first loss of the season with a 44-32 victory in a showdown between two of the top teams in the Southern Connecticut Conference, and the state, Friday night in Hamden.

The Sharks (8-1) went on a 15-3 run to turn a tie game into a 12-point victory, according to GameTimeCT.com.

Finley Gunning and Mila Harmon each scored 12 points to lead Sacred Heart Academy while Maddy Burke added 10 points, according to GameTimeCT.

Megan Wresien scored a game-high 21 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Sheehan (6-1).

The Titans will look to bounce back against Foran at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Sheehan High School.
